Greenskies Renewable Energy LLC, a Middletown-based solar energy company, has announced it will partner with Lockheed Martin, a global aerospace, defense, security and advanced technologies company, to build a photovoltaic solar system in Meriden.
Greenskies, in partnership with Lockheed Martin Energy Solutions, a Lockheed Martin business unit, will build a 202.2 –kilowatt solar array on the rooftop of a privately-owned building at 290 Pratt St., said Christopher McCarthy, a business development project manager at Greenskies.
The array will consist of 663 photovoltaic solar panels and will produce enough electricity per year to power 40 New England homes. Construction on the project started in early October and is expected to be completed by late November, McCarthy said.
Greenskies designs, builds and maintains photovoltaic solar systems for corporate clients, municipalities and government agencies, educational institutions and utilities throughout the United States. Solar installations designed and built by Greenskies that are either operational or are currently under construction have the potential to produce 200 megawatts of clean electric power.
