Greenskies Completes Hoffman Auto Solar Projects

Greenskies Renewable Energy LLC, a Middletown solar energy company, has completed the construction of nine photovoltaic solar arrays on the roofs of nine separate automobile dealerships owned and operated by East Hartford-based Hoffman Auto Group, the two companies have announced.
The nine rooftop projects will generate a total of 691,125 kilowatts of clean electric energy, said Greenskies Project Manager Eric Oberg. Each installation will generate enough electricity to cover roughly 50 percent of the individual dealership’s total energy requirements.
The deal makes Hoffman Auto Group the first automobile dealer in the state to install and utilize photovoltaic solar panels.
The nine projects include a 65.88 kW installation on the roof of Hoffman Porsche, 630 Connecticut Blvd., East Hartford; an 83.27 kW array on the roof of the Hoffman Used Car SuperStore, 650 Connecticut Blvd., East Hartford; a 72.59 kW installation on the roof of Hoffman Lexus, 750 Connecticut Blvd, East Hartford; a 131.75 kW installation on the roof of Hoffman Audi, 700 Connecticut Blvd, East Hartford; a 36.295 kW installation on Hoffman Ford, 600 Connecticut Blvd, East Hartford; a 131.76 kW installation on the roof of Hoffman Honda, 40 Albany Tpke., West Simsbury; and a 65.88 kW on the roof of Hoffman Toyota Scion, 36 Albany Tpke., West Simsbury; a 72.59 kW installation on the roof of Hoffman Nissan, 46 Albany Tpke, West Simsbury and a 31.11 kW installation of the roof of Hoffman Audi, 490 Broad St, New London.
The projects include a combined total of 2,259 photovoltaic solar panels, Oberg said.
