Project Finance Analyst/Associate

Summary

Contribute to the renewable energy transition by helping drive investment decisions to build new solar projects. Work closely with multiple departments to integrate technical, financial and market information into actionable financial models. Work on a diverse range of contract types, across multiple-state markets.

Location(s): NYC or North Haven, CT

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Build and update financial models for rooftop, carport, ground-mounted, and hybrid solar systems, both BTM (behind-the-meter) and FTM (front-the-meter).
  • Assist in the development of client-facing financial offerings: PPA (power purchase agreements), leases, land purchase agreements, revenue sharing, and hybrid offerings.
  • Regular interaction with multiple cross functional teams.
  • Present analysis and investment recommendations to senior leadership, including CEO.
  • Assist with the consolidation, detailed review, and organization of project-level information from various internal and external groups.
  • Maximize opportunities by applying critical thinking. Flag risks and propose strategies.
  • Conduct property tax analysis, including review of parcel cards, tax bills, and mill rates, and evaluate fair market value (FMV) compared to alternative valuation methods.
  • Ongoing development, and functional understanding of, changing REC (renewable energy credits) and incentive programs across multiple state markets. Parse and classify utility bills.
  • Review legal and project documents including PPAs, leases, RFPs, funding, and layouts.
  • Workflow discipline & QA. Use of Planner, Teams, and validation checklists.
  • Kaizen: ongoing, collaborative, development of internal tools and processes.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in related field.
  • 0-2+ Years of relevant experience, including working with accounting, energy industry, finance, real estate investment, consulting, or project management:
    • Analyst, 0-2 years.
    • Associate, 2+ years.
  • For Associate, experience in renewable energy is required. Experience structuring tax equity transactions is preferred.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office with advanced understanding of Microsoft Excel.
    • Writing—convert complex analyses into crisp tables/memos for exec review.
    • Excel: DCF, NPV, and IRR.
  • Brings a positive, collaborative presence and thrives in a fast paced, action oriented environment. Strong organizational skills and attention to detail. High degree of accountability.
  • Approaches deadlines and commitments with reliability, focus, and timely execution.
