Performance Engineer

Summary

Reporting to the Director of Asset Management, the Performance Engineer supports the Asset Management Team (“AM”) in ensuring solar assets are performing at optimal levels, to maximize financial performance by managing risks and seeking for and executing opportunities to improve project cashflow. The Performance Engineer onboards new projects, reviewing initial performance and ensuring adequate quality for reliable operation, in a highly vertically integrated organization.

Location(s): North Haven, CT (in-office)


Duties and Responsibilities:

  • Support the Director of Asset Management ensuring the departmental goals are met.
  • Work with Construction Team as new projects are approaching operational status to ensure the level of quality necessary for reliable operation.
  • Assess and quantify initial project performance to confirm readiness for operation, including period inspections of the facilities.
  • Review commissioning reports and processes.
  • Work with the Operations and Maintenance Team (O&M) to understand and resolve persistent operational issues that affect financial performance.
  • Collaborate with the Engineering and Construction Teams to drive improvements in design and construction quality for maximum generation during operation.
  • Perform deep-dive investigations of complicated operational issues regarding grid stability and power plan control systems.
  • Assist with reporting within Asset Management describing the causes and remediation of operational issues.
  • Work with O&M to develop strategies for improved performance, including spare parts inventories and monitoring processes.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications:

  • Four-year degree in a technical field, preferably engineering.
  • At least two years’ experience working with a portfolio of solar assets; experience with both C&I and small utility-scale projects a strong plus.
  • Experience with trackers and BESS also a plus.
  • Familiarity with monitoring software and performance reporting
  • High level of competence with PVsyst and other production modeling software.
  • High attention to detail.
  • Ability to write clear and concise reports.
  • Ability to work well independently and as part of a cross-functional team in a fast-paced organization.
  • Exceptional verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze problem scenario’s and make quick intelligent decisions
