The city is aiming to bring in revenue from a currently unused piece of land and provide for the production of renewable energy. The City Council approved having a capped landfill become the site of a solar array Monday. The council voted to authorize Mayor Elinor Carbone to lease the property at 105 Vista Drive to GRE GACRUX LLC., otherwise known as Greenskies Renewable Energy, a Middletown-based company.

Plans to promote green energy in town will continue this summer with solar panels being added at both middle schools. Joseph A. DePaolo Middle School and John F. Kennedy Middle School will both have solar panel arrays installed on their rooftops by Greenskies Renewable Energy in Middletown.

SOUTHINGTON — Work is scheduled to begin this summer on roof-mounted solar panels for the middle schools and a ground-mounted solar farm for Hatton School. They’re the latest in what town officials hope will be a host of other solar power generating projects, including the new senior center and the town’s old landfill.

ALDEN, N.Y. (WIVB) — A Connecticut company has announced its intentions to build three solar energy systems in Erie County. Greenskies Renewable Energy will be creating systems over the course of the next year to generate power in the county.

Fresh on the heels of signing a contract to build a 2.7 megawatt municipal solar project in Lewis County in north central New York state, Greenskies Renewable Energy has been contracted to build a 2.7 megawatt solar array in Erie County, in the western end of the state.

Trumbull schools are about to get a lot greener beginning next fall. Greenskies Renewable Energy, one of the nation’s top 10 solar developers, announced last week that it has signed an agreement to design and build rooftop solar arrays on five schools in town.
