Solar Paralegal

Summary

As a Paralegal at Greenskies you will report to the General Counsel to help ensure compliance with federal and state regulations and assist with legal documentation related to solar projects. This role is essential in managing contracts, ensuring regulatory compliance, and supporting commercial transactions from site acquisition through construction and financing for both construction and tax equity investment.

Location(s): North Haven, CT (in-person)

Key Responsibilities:

  • Draft, review, and manage legal agreements: PPAs NDAs, service contracts, site control agreements, easements and access right agreements, asset/equity purchase agreements, and procurement contracts.
  • Conduct research on laws, regulations, and policies affecting the solar industry.
  • Monitor legislative changes and regulatory updates relevant to the solar industry.
  • Conduct due diligence for land acquisition, title, and permitting.
  • Identify risks and ensure compliance with legal standards.
  • Draft legal documents such as memoranda, amendments, regulatory filings, and reports.
  • Prepare and file regulatory documents (e.g., state compliance, siting, and incentive eligibility, UCC financing statements).
  • Track contract obligations, renewals, and deadlines.
  • Maintain legal databases and organize documentation.
  • Collaborate with project finance, funding, and business development teams for corporate governance matters and responding to due diligence for financings.
  • Assist with legal queries.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree or paralegal certificate (ABA-approved preferred).
  • Paralegal certificate or law degree preferred.
  • 5+ years of experience in corporate, project finance, or renewable energy legal environments.
  • Familiarity with real estate transactions and title insurance is a plus.
  • Strong understanding of contract law, regulatory compliance, and administrative law.
  • Excellent organizational and communication skills.
  • Proficiency in legal research tools and document management systems.
  • Familiarity with M&A activity, project development, project financing, permitting. Renewable energy experience preferred.
