Interconnection Specialist/Engineer

Summary

Greenskies is seeking a talented Interconnection Specialist/Engineer to join our innovative solar photovoltaic Development Team. As the Interconnection Specialist/Engineer at Greenskies, you will play a critical role in the entire project lifecycle. You'll be responsible for understanding and leading management of the interconnection process for all projects across regions. You will work with a team of engineers, developers, and PMs to ensure that all projects from very early stage through construction have accurate estimates of interconnection costs and that all studies and agreements are in place. You will also be involved in the design and optimization of projects to ensure alignment with interconnection needs and priorities.

As part of our Development department, you'll report directly to the VP of Development, providing opportunities for mentorship and professional growth.

Location(s): Remote, Hybrid from NYC or North Haven, CT

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Lead company wide interconnection due diligence and estimating including: manage interconnection application, study, and agreement process with utility or ISO, create Interconnection Cost Estimates, process research in new states
  • Provide due diligence information and feasibility analysis of potential land acquisitions based on engineering design best judgement in regards to interconnection and project design
  • Conduct tariff research, preparing interconnection requests, overseeing external advisors, and maintaining the pipeline projects in good standing
  • Develop a comprehensive understanding and familiarity with various generator interconnection procedures in North America
  • Prepare interconnection applications compliant with ISO/RTO/Utility regulations including determination of financial and land control requirements
  • Create project designs including site plans and system one lines in AutoCAD and/or Helioscope and PVCase
  • Produce accurate energy production estimates (PVSyst and HelioScope)
  • Manage generator interconnection processes
  • Negotiate and execute generator interconnection-related agreements
  • Manage commercial and technical aspects of the interconnection process
  • Keep current with interconnection procedures and requirements by attending ISO/RTO periodic meetings and workshops
  • Collaborate with internal teams throughout the project phases to ensure compliance with ISO/RTO/Utility regulations and support the generator interconnection process

Qualifications:

  • Three years of interconnection management and engineering experience in the solar PV industry preferred
  • Experience working for or with Utilities preferred
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Engineering (Electrical or Mechanical)
  • Understanding of the NEC, NESC, relevant electrical codes, building codes, and permitting procedures for large scale solar projects
  • Software experience: AutoCAD, HelioScope, PVSyst (or similar), and QGIS(or similar) Detail oriented
  • Broad technical understanding of solar design and development processes
  • Ability to multitask and prioritize needs with timely responses
  • Creativity in problem solving
  • Ability to interpret construction drawings and review project documentation for technical requirements
