Greenskies Named #10 Commercial Solar Developer in U.S.

Solar Power World Names Greenskies a Top Solar Developer in Connecticut & New Jersey

North Haven, CT (July 22, 2021) – National solar developer, Greenskies Clean Energy ("Greenskies"), announced it ranked as the tenth-largest commercial and industrial (C&I) solar developer in the U.S. on Solar Power World's 2021 Top Solar Contractors ranking. In the specific sectors where the company focuses, enterprise and municipal projects, Greenskies ranked in the top five. Greenskies installed over 28,000 kilowatts (kW) of solar projects in 2020, supporting hundreds of well-paying solar jobs.

In its home state of Connecticut, Greenskies ranked as the top C&I developer with over 18,000 kW of solar installed last year. Greenskies continued its strong relationship with CT cities and towns, completing 25 projects in twelve different municipalities across the state. These included carport canopies, rooftop, and ground-mounted arrays at schools, police departments, wastewater treatment plants, and various town buildings. More than a third of municipalities around CT have partnered with the company to meet their solar needs.

In the non-profit sector, Greenskies worked with three YMCA locations, Hartford, Putnam, and Westbrook, to provide solar energy to their facilities. The company also completed a 6 MW array in North Haven, providing more clean, renewable energy to CT residents through Eversource and United Illuminating.

"Greenskies is proud of the strong relationships built throughout Connecticut over the last twelve years," said Stanley Chin, President and CEO of Greenskies. "Our success is a direct result of an experienced team and their commitment to delivering high-quality solar projects. We offer our clients a local, long-term partner dedicated to delivering savings and peak performance for the lifetime of their project."

In addition, Greenskies ranked as the number three C&I developer in New Jersey, with close to 6,000 kW of solar installed last year. Greenskies continued to build its presence in NJ by partnering with municipalities across the state to construct carport canopies and rooftop arrays at schools and various town buildings.

"The Garden State is a longtime leader in solar energy," said Stanley Chin, President and CEO of Greenskies. "Greenskies is excited to continue helping more communities and companies across New Jersey reap the benefits of clean, renewable energy with solar."

The Top Solar Contractors list is developed each year by Solar Power World to honor the work of solar installers in the United States. Solar firms in the utility, commercial, and residential markets are ranked by number of kilowatts installed in the previous year. Companies are grouped and listed by specific service, markets, and states. 2021 marks the 10th edition of Solar Power World's Top Solar Contractors list.

"Ten years is a significant milestone within the solar community. Many companies reaching the 10-year mark are labeled veterans of the industry," said Kelly Pickerel, editor in chief of Solar Power World. "We're honored to continue supporting the growing solar industry in recognizing the solar installers making that growth happen."

Over the last twelve years, Greenskies has grown from a regional powerhouse to a nationwide leader in commercial solar development. Since its founding in 2009, Greenskies has installed more than 260 megawatts of solar at over 500 sites across 19 states. Greenskies continues to have a strong pipeline of new projects s in development and under construction throughout the United States.
