Greenskies Listed Among State's Top Workplaces

Press Release | Middletown, CT

Greenskies Renewable Energy was named one of Connecticut’s best places to work in the Hartford Courant’s annual Top Workplaces list.

The Middletown-based solar developer was listed among the top employers in the list’s Small Company category. The annual list divides state employers into three divisions: Large (more than 500 local employees); Midsize (between 150 and 499 employees) and Small (between 50 and 149 employees).

Greenskies, the only energy company to appear on the list, achieved the distinction in its first year of eligibility.

Though nearly 1,000 firms with at least 50 employees in Hartford, Middlesex, Tolland, Windham and New London counties were nominated for the list, a much smaller number agreed to undergo the rigorous process of having their employees complete confidential surveys, according to Dan Harr, the editor of Top Workplaces. The surveys were administered by Workplace Dynamics, a research and consulting firm.

Those surveys consisted of 24 statements that employees were asked to assess on a scale ranging from “strongly agree” to “strongly disagree.” The statements covered such areas as working conditions, management, and pay and benefits. The responses were then filtered through a formula which resulted in each company being assigned a score.

Comments of Greenskies employees answering the survey included:

“Being a part of an innovating industry is very exciting and makes work enjoyable;”

“It is a part of the sustainable energy industry, and understanding how the overall process works is very interesting;”

“My co-workers are helpful and motivated to constantly improve processes; ”

“The team atmosphere.”

Greenskies is the nation’s #1 solar developer among commercial contractors on Solar Power World’s 2016 Top 500 Solar Contractors list. Solar Power World is the solar industry’s leading business-to-business publication. It was also the nation’s top-ranked solar developer in the commercial/industrial position in the quarterly U.S. PV (photovoltaic) Leaderboard, released last June by GTM Research, the industry’s leading research firm and data tracker.

The eight-year-old company finances, designs, builds and maintains solar photovoltaic systems for commercial and industrial clients, municipalities and government agencies, educational institutions and utilities across the United States.
