Director of Business Development

Job Description

The Director of Business Development will establish and manage relationships with national clients, including large corporations and owners of real estate seeking to achieve ESG, carbon reduction, and economic initiatives. The Director of Business Development will leverage the capabilities of Greenskies to advise clients regarding the adoption of on- and off-site solar and other renewable energy technologies. This position reports directly to the Vice President of Business Development.

Location: North Haven, CT with Hybrid/Remote Potential

Responsibilities will include, but are not limited to:

  • Generate and pursue leads and attend virtual and in-person consultation appointments with prospective clients.
  • Assess clients’ goals and needs and develop proposals, present solutions, answer questions, and address concerns.
  • Present, explain, and close power purchase, lease, and system installation agreements with clients.
  • Gather the customer and facility information required by internal engineering and finance teams to build and price solutions.
  • Collaborate with internal finance and engineering teams to develop proposals.


  • Minimum BS or BA degree.
  • Minimum five years of origination experience in real estate, finance, or energy.
  • Existing relationships with the senior management of key participants in the commercial real estate industry are highly preferred.
  • Articulate with excellent verbal and written communication skills.
  • Ability to analyze and summarize complex technical and financial information.
  • Strong financial analysis skills.
  • Excellent computer skills, including MS Office Suite (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook) and CRM systems.
  • Professional, self-disciplined, and honest.
